Snickers

I started this post at the end of March, after hearing the news about our beloved four-legged friend, Snickers. As you can tell from my blog, I haven't been that great with keeping up with it. However, I still want to share some things about Snickers and her quirkiness that I will miss.

It didn't take long for Snickers to attach herself to Clint. She loved him so much, and he loved her!

Snickers' exciting adventure to Plauen! A friend invited us all to his art studio and wanted Snickers to come along. she was very nervous and rode most of the way on Karen's lap.

Snickers got really excited about the potato launcher. The boys would use the leftover fireworks and put it in a pipe and put potatoes in there to shoot out. Silly boys...

Getting ready for the launch!

The anticipation!

Traditional day after Christmas walk in the woods at the Wasserschloss. Snickers loved going on walks.

Aren't we cute? Snickers even had a Christmas ribbon on. :)

Snickers on her rug. She was supposed to stay on that rug and not come into the dining room.

She of course loved to curl up and sleep.

She was a sweet dog and loved attention.

When we grilled outside she would sniff every inch of the ground around the grill and table in hopes of finding crumbs. I'm pretty sure she licked up a lot of dirt.

Did someone say food?!

Remember how she was supposed to stay on her rug? Yeah, this is usually what it looked like.... she was touching the rug with her backside, does that count? :)

Getting some special Thankgiving dinner!

On a walk at the Wasserschloss

Snickers taking Dustin, Karen's nephew, on a walk. :)

Snickers was a card shark, bet you didn't know! :)

I'm pretty sure Snickers either just licked Clint or she was about to in this picture.

Cuddles

Chilling

Snickers decided she liked Clint's gym bag and we found her laying on it more than once.

Christmas morning, Snickers got to open her stocking.

Treats!

When Heidi was born, Snickers was very jealous for a long time. Eventually she came around and they became good buddies. :)

Snickers got very excited to go to the May Day parade... maybe a little too excited.

Sometimes Snickers would make little burrow under the bushes.

Our last walk with Snickers in November 2010

Snickers loved playing in the snow

Look at her patiently waiting for her picture to be taken. :)

Heidi loved Snickers too!

Courtney's Book!

In celebration of the publication of her first book, Colors of Deception, Courtney Cantrell is giving some copies away! Over the next two weeks, she'll be collecting entries for a contest.  Her two favorites will each win a free, signed paperback.

In Colors of Deception, cute college sophomore Holly Idaho discovers that a demon in stalking her.  Over the course of the story, Holly realizes that this demon has a rabid and morbid fascination with the music of rock band INXS.

Why INXS?  You'd have to ask the demon.  ; )

According to this demon's favorite band, we all have "the devil inside."  But maybe this devil prefers a different kind of music?

Maybe you think a demon should prefer Country & Western. Or might demons just sing the Blues?  Perhaps they go for the classics like Black Sabbath.

Maybe they're insidious and love The Girl from Ipanema.

So here is Courtney's challenge to you:  In one hundred words or less, tell her what music you think demons listen to and why.

Be scary, be humorous, be ridiculous, or be whatever you want to be. Courtney's two completely arbitrary favorite entries will each receive:

Courtney will probably post some other non-winning entries she thinks are clever as well.

Submit your entries http://courtcan.com/home/">here, in Courtney's email form.  The contest ends at midnight, Central Standard Time [UTC-06:00], April 26th.  Thanks for playing -- and happy writing!

Quotes of the day from Heidi

It's only 7:43 a.m. and I already have two great quotes from Heidi. We left the house at 4:30 a.m. to get to the airport for our 6:00 flight. In case you ever wondered... It doesn't matter how early it is, Heidi always seems to be full of energy and ready to entertain.

On the flight from OKC to DFW, Heidi looked out the window and saw the lights of Dallas and said, "Wow, is that Christmas?!" "No sweetie, that is the city!". :)

Then a lady was talking to her and asked her name and she said, "My name is Heidi! This is Clint and this is April!" Ha ha ha! I've never heard her introduce us like that before. She is so goofy. She then proceeded to entertain several people until we boarded. :) She is definitely not shy.

Happy Wednesday

I guess Heidi is getting into the creative name game. This morning she was asking me what one of her stuffed animal friends was called and I said she could name it anything she wanted. She thought for a minute and said, "It's called Happy Wednesday!"

Heria

Don't worry if you don't understand the title of this post. It's a Heidi original. Today she was playing with some toy dogs... There seems to be a theme lately. :) One of the dogs goes with her Fancy Nancy doll and it has a name tag that says "Frenchy." she asked me what the other dog's name was and I told her she could name her anything she wanted to. She looked at it for a minute and said, "Heria, is that her favorite name?" I said, "Sure!". :) I have to say that is a pretty unique name. It's pronounced her-ee-uh. :)

Conversation with a Doggie

Heidi: Woof woof! Doggie says she wants up!
Me: If doggie wants a sandwich, then Mommy has to make it though.
H: Woof woof! Doggie says she wants jello!
M: If doggie wants jello, she has to eat her whole sandwich first.
H: Woof woof! Doggie says she wants to go to Karen's house!

Ha ha.. I have a silly little doggie today. :)

Trees broccoli

Eating dinner tonight, Heidi ate really well! I was very pleased. I made meatloaf, steamed broccoli and apples with a bit of butter and brown sugar (yum!). First I was surprised because she ate all of her meatloaf up and asked for more! I told her to go ahead and eat what was on her plate first and then she could have more. So she ate her apples next and asked for more. I asked her to eat her broccoli first and she ate it all and asked for more! This girl must be going through a growth spurt because she ate more of everything. When eating her broccoli she said, "Mmm... I love trees broccoli!".

#1 I love that she loves broccoli.
#2 I love that she calls it trees broccoli. :)

Jill and Billy

I almost forgot about this... So funny!

A few days ago, Heidi was sitting on the toilet and randomly named her feet "Jill and Billy".

That girl is hilarious. :)

Silly

The other day Clint said something like, "rock on!" and Heidi said, "don't say that, say yippie skippie!" :) Earlier Clint said "yippie skippie" and Heidi said, "no, don't say that! Say, oh my dragon!" ha ha ha!

Happy Birthday Heidi Beth!

My baby is 3 years old today! Where has the time gone?

I can hardly remember when she was this little! My precious baby!

She has grown to be such a beautiful, sweet and spunky 3 year old!

I know one thing for sure, my life would not be as full of love, excitement, hugs, cuddles and kisses if it wasn't for that sweet little girl. God truly blessed me 3 years ago with the most amazing daughter. I never knew my heart could be so full of love and keep growing! Thank you, God for this blessing in my life and never let me take advantage of the time I have with her.

I love you so much Heidi Beth!

Confusion during church

Today after communion and they were doing the collection, Clint gave Heidi a quarter like we do every week for her to put in the collection plate. I told her we were going to give the money to Jesus. So as the guy comes to pass the plate Heidi looks at the guy standing at the end of the isle and asks, "Is THAT Jesus?!" Ha ha ha ha! We of course start laughing and people around us were laughing at this point. "No sweetie, Jesus lives in heaven!" Ha ha... it is a little bit confusing isn't it?

Mail

We got Heidi a playhouse for the backyard for Christmas. She loves it! In fact, I need to post the video of her reaction when we showed it to her. It has a little mailbox on it and yesterday Clint gave her some advertisement to put in the mailbox for her mail. She took it out and said, "Oh, $600!" who knows where she got that from! I should tell her to lower her expectations for when she gets her own mail. :)

Water works

Clint and I have just recently noticed that Heidi has figured out how to turn the water works on very quickly when she doesn't get her way. It's like she's trying to manipulate us into changing our minds. It's really ridiculous and pathetic when you see her face and the fuss she makes over little silly things. I have a feeling 3 is going to be a fun year. :)

Fun with Cousins

In August my sister, Amy, and brother-in-law, Doug, came to Oklahoma and dropped of my niece, Ashlyn at Mimi and Papa's (my parents) house while they went on an anniversary trip. During that week, Heidi and I spent a lot of time with the other girls in the family. My Mom, sister-in-law, Lana, and the four girls, Ashlyn, Claire, Lydia and Heidi did a lot of fun things!

Playing dress-up

The Jasmine Moran Children's Museum in Seminole was really fun!

This was a really neat part. It was a grocery store and the kids could pick out 5 items and take them to the check out and then they could actually ring up the items. When they were done they had to put the items back on the shelves.

The bubble station was really neat! They are standing inside a bubble!

The sprayground! Amanda and Casen met us there too!

This was a neat indoor play place in Yukon. Since it was so hot outside this was a nice place to go.

Summer Visitors from Germany

I contemplated where to start since I have been so behind on posting lately. Since I am just now getting around to posting photos from the summer, I thought I would just start there. We had a lot of visitors from Germany last summer! It was great to see everyone.

First Karen came at the beginning of July and stayed a few weeks. We enjoyed getting to spend lots of time with her!

Karen bought her this dress that Heidi is wearing. :)

Then Janine, Kerstin and Olaf came to visit! We took them around OKC.

Steve, Kristi, Hannah and Noah Martin met us in Bricktown.

We got to watch the World Cup Germany game with Karen!

At the OKC Bombing Memorial with Courtney, Janine, Olaf and Kerstin

Larry and Pam came to visit!

Heidi, Kendra, Joel and Pam

At Soldier Creek with Larry and Pam

Going swimming with Karen and Jaydin, her great niece

It was a busy summer with lots of visitors!

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from our family to yours!
