Heidi: you know what I want to be when I grow up?
Me: what?
H: just a Mommy!
M: well that's a great job!
H: you know where I want to live when I be a Mommy?
M: where?
H: Disneyland!

Reflections on my 33rd year

My birthday month is here and it got me to thinking about how I am turning 33. At first, I just kind of thought, well, it's not really a special birthday... 30 is a big one and then again at 40, but in between is just another year, right? Then it hit me, more than likely, Jesus was 33 when he died on the cross and was resurrected from the dead. WOW. Puts things in perspective a little bit. I guess we don't really know the exact age he was, but it seems to be what most people think. But, thinking about his life, he lived every second to the fullest, using it for God's will. Even at the age of 12, he was telling his mother that he had to be about his Father's business. He never sinned and yet he took on the sins of the whole world. When I think about my 33 years, I'm grateful for being raised in a faithful family who taught me to love God. I'm thankful that at a young age I decided to follow Christ and put him on in baptism. However, I have made A LOT of mistakes in my 33 years. I know, I'm human and could never live up to the perfect example of Christ. But, what if I have another 33+ more years on this earth? What can I do with those years? Can I dedicate my life to living it according to God's will? Once again, I just have to say wow. I have a lot of work to do. But, I'm so thankful that Jesus did make his sacrifice in order that I can have his grace for the many times I mess up. So, thank you, Jesus, for your sacrifice and may I always try to live according to the Father's will. And may I always think about what my purpose in this life should be: to bring Praise, Honor and Glory to the Father.
