Days 19, 20 and 21

Friday, June 21st

We had some free time on this day so we went to the Leipzig Zoo. It is right in the middle of the city, but it is quite large and very beautiful. Once you are inside, you really can't tell it's in the middle of a big city.

Heidi being Bach :) There was a Bachfest going on when we first got to Leipzig so there were signs about it everywhere
We took a boat ride in the tropical area called Gondwanaland

We really enjoyed the time at the zoo! Larry and Pam went with us and we ended up running into their friend Billy and his 2 kids. Heidi had a good time playing with them. We saw him a couple of times while we were there. Pam had to leave to go to work, but then Karen later met us there too. The other great thing about this day at the zoo was that it was the first day that we had relief from the heat. It had rained the night before and this day was perfect for a trip to the zoo.

After the zoo, we went back to the house and got some rest and had coffee time. :)

Saturday, June 22nd

This day we were able to get rested up and the kids could take naps to prepare for our busy week. The Sullivans went to Dresden on that day so we decided to go to a little festival that was going on just a street over from their house. It was kind of like a yard sale for everyone in the neighborhood. Everyone had tables set up along the street and were selling used things. Sometimes clothes, antiques, kids toys and all kinds of different things. It was interesting to go look at things and we passed by some boxes that said "free" and Heidi found a little toy flower that she liked. She was pretty happy with her find.  Then, as we were walking by a Chinese Restaurant, they had a stand where they were selling food and we stopped and bought our dinner there. It was really good. In the evenings, we have been enjoying our time with the Sullivans.

Sunday, June 23rd

In Leipzig, their worship doesn't start until the evening. They usually get together for coffee time and cake at 4:00 and then have worship at 5:00 and are usually there until at least 6 or 7 I think. We enjoyed getting to worship there for the first time on that day.

Sven came from Chemnitz to the worship service- sorry Larry, but I wanted to post this picture! :)

Billy and his two kids, Noah and Ben- they had fun playing with our kids

Coffee before worship

Chatting

Sarah came in and at first I thought she was a German visitor until she told me she met me at Westwood, in Oklahoma. Then I realized who she was! She was in Weimar this summer on a study abroad program and just decided to come to Leipzig for worship!

This is the door to get up to the Let's Start Talking Center, where they also have worship

An interesting building down the street from the Center

It has an interesting mural

I love the architecture here

Dinner at an Italian restaurant after worship
