Chemnitz Christmas Market

Chemnitz Christmas Market

So I know this is way overdue, but I wanted to blog about everything that happened in December and the holidays. Hopefully I can catch up fairly quickly.

First of all, one of the wonderful things about Christmas in Germany are the Christmas Markets. It's such a wonderful tradition that I wish existed in the States as well. I think I really missed out when I was growing up.

The market is full of wonderful smells of great food. Some of my favorites are gebrannte mandeln (roasted almonds), hot chocolate, and crepes. Those are only a couple of things offered to eat. There is of course also the norm: bratwurst, kaese spaetzle (special kind of noodles with cheese) and all kinds of other things.

Clint and I enjoyed going around and doing a little bit of shopping, eating some wonderful food and just enjoying the atmosphere of the market with the constant sound of Christmas music playing throughout. I keep telling family and friends that they should visit Germany in December but I think most people don't want to come "when it's cold". Well, you really are missing out and the cold is really not that bad. This year actually was a very mild Christmas.

Anyway, I am just letting you know that it is a nice time to see Germany. I have always loved this time every year.
