Thursday in Scotland

Edinburgh Castle Posted by Picasa

On Thursday Kevin spent the day with us in Edinburgh. It was a crazy day as there was a festival going on in the city and there were so many people there! But we had a great time with Kevin anyway!

Our Trip to Scotland

Dunnottar Castle Posted by Picasa

We had an amazing time in Scotland! It was absolutely beautiful and we had a great time hanging out with Liz Cail and Kevin Peters.

We flew into London on Saturday the 19th and were there by about 7:30 p.m. Since we had a 6-7 hour drive ahead of us to Dundee, Scotland we drove about an hour and spent the night in Peterborough. On Sunday morning we got up and drove the rest of the way and were in Dundee and enjoying time with our friends by dinner time.

On Monday, Liz took us to Dunnottar Castle. As you can see in the picture it was breathtaking! It sits right on the coast of the North Sea.

Scotland Trip Postponed

I can't believe that I am actually caught up on my blog finally. Maybe I will actually try to keep up with it and let you all know what is going on in our lives.

There is one thing that I have left out and that is about our Scotland trip. Clint and I had been planning for some time to make a trip to Scotland to visit Liz Cail and Kevin Peters. Not only were we excited to visit them, but to see the country which neither one of us have ever seen and to celebrate our one year anniversary!

Originally our trip was scheduled for August 10-17. Thursday the 10th we had all our bags packed and Karen drove us to the airport in Altenburg, about 45 minutes away from Chemnitz. When we arrived we saw a really long line of people and a camera man approached us and a woman stuck a microphone in Clint's face and proceeded to ask him what he thought about all the flights being cancelled that were going into London. We had no idea what was going on because we had just walked into the room so we just told them our German wasn't that good and the guy went on to explain what was happening.

Because of the terrorist plot that had been stopped in London all the flights had been cancelled. We were supposed to fly into London and then drive to Scotland from there. We were really disappointed about that and waiting in line for about 2 hours, hoping we could rebook our tickets for another time. By the time we made it up to the counter they were telling us they couldn't get us a flight out until Monday, which would make our trip from Monday to Thursday which we didn't think would be worth it for how much we paid. We tried changing the second flight but that would have cost almost 400 euros more. So we instead got a refund and later found tickets to fly from August 19-27. Right now that is the plan and hopefully it will go smoothly.

I hope your week is going better than that!

Happy Birthday Karen!

We had a big bash for Karen's 40th birthday! We had coffee and cake and of course presents in the afternoon at the church building. In the evening we moved to a different location to sing karaoke!

Eating Lunch with Clydesdale and Queenie

Eating Lunch with Clyde and Gwen in Brussels Posted by Picasa

One of the best parts of being in Brussels was of course seeing Clyde and Gwen Antwine. They are both doing really well and we had a good time visiting while we were there. For those of you who don't know them, they are the reason we are here in Germany. They are just another part of our family, really. We love you Clyde and Gwen!

Missionary Update

Larry Giving a Presentation Posted by Picasa

At PEL there was time set aside everyday for the missionaries to give presentations on the work that was going on in the city in which they work. Larry was able to do a presentation about Chemnitz. One morning Larry and Clint were also able to lead the morning devotional. Clint did a great job sharing his thoughts on some verses in I Chronicles 16:8-36. The theme for the week was about passion and so he was able to tie that into the theme.

Brussels, Belgium- Pan European Lectureships

Our Trip to Brussels Posted by Picasa

From July 31-August 4 several of us from Chemnitz went to Brussels, Belgium to attend the Pan European Lectureships. Every year a group of Americans organizes this lectureship and invites missionaries and those working in the Church all over Europe to attend. It is also in another country every year. This was the first time that Clint and I have been able to attend and we really enjoyed it. Not only is it always fun for us to travel to a new place we have never been, but meeting all of the Christians from around Europe and the States was really encouraging! We also got to hear about the work that is being done in so many countries for God!

Recently our group that sings had the opportunity to sing at a birthday party for Ellen, who is one of the members of the church. We had a good time doing it and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Finally, I remembered to take a picture of our car to put up so everyone can see it. It's not much, but it gets us around and are so blessed to have it! It's an 88 VW Golf. Its last owner took very good care of it so it's in good shape.

For this trip I have to post a couple of other pictures as well. One weekend we took a trip right over the border to Poland with the Sullivans, Cantrells, Karen and Jerry and Cindy, guests of Ed and Courtney. We all got rooms at this beautiful castle and enjoyed a little bit of shopping as well, including Polish pottery! This picture is taken at the castle where we stayed. Isn't it beautiful?!
